Who is Juana Ruiz?

In these recent months on Spanish-speaking news appear that Juana Ruiz was arrested in Israel. Juana is a citizen originally from Spain, who was arrested on April 13, 2021, and accused of helping to obtain money for terrorist organizations. Basically, she collected funds for the NGO PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine). This is one of the six organizations that was declared a terrorist organization by Israel, The United States, and the European Union a few weeks ago. In the last session we had with The Modern Pioneers (with Ido Daniel, Senior Director of Digital Strategy at The Ministry of Strategic Affairs and Public Diplomacy), we were told in detail why these organizations are terrorists. The point is that in the networks Israel is accused of arresting a woman who only wanted to collect money for humanitarian organizations, while Israel accuses her of contributing money to terrorist NGOs.

The problem is that most people will only read the title of “Israel arrests woman who wanted to help …” or “Israel arrests woman who volunteers in a humanitarian NGO …” or any other title in which Israel is the villain arresting the victim.

What we should do in these cases is to show how these organizations are linked with terror organizations. Juana Ruiz herself admitted to raising funds for the PFLP organization. We need to show that these so-called “humanitarian organizations” are nothing more than masks to raise funds for terrorist purposes. Juana Ruiz has been living in Israel since 1993 in the West Bank, and she has always been involved in these “humanitarian” organizations. The PFLP organization was designated as a terrorist organization in 2020, while she continued to collaborate with . Only that this time the funds were diverted to the PFLP, and she was arrested.

In short, this is one of the many examples of the manipulation of people who are deceived by the media and misinformation. Our goal is to tell the truth and stand with it.
